Várjon, a teacher at the Liszt Academy of Music, and his wife Izabella Simon played compositions by Schubert, Janácek, Dvorak, Bach-Kurtág, Bartók and Liszt.

 
The American playwright Ashlin Halfnight's Balaton premiered at the 30th Street Theatre in Manhattan on Saturday evening. The play directed by Kristjan Thor shows the life of a Hungarian family in a post-communist, Americanised world. The production was supported by the Hungarian Cultural Centre in New York.
 
The Keller Quartet will perform works by Bartók, Ligeti and Beethoven at the 92Y Tisch Center for the Arts on November 8,
 
In February, the centre will host the cellist Miklós Perényi, who will play works by Kodály, Ligeti, Bach and Brahms together with the pianist Benjamin Hochman. The centre will also host a reading by the Hungarian writer Péter Esterházy, who will recite excerpts from Harmonia Caelestis accompanied by András Schiff on piano.
