The London Community Gospel Choir

Sixteen members of the choir - which, established in 1982 by the Reverend Bazil Meade, is the first concert gospel choir in Britain - arrived in Budapest. Meade both accompanied - on the electric piano - and directed the choir. He also made forays into the audience, even getting a couple of members to improvise when the microphone was thrust under their noses.

Though the concert moved freely from one related genre to another, rock and funky elements dominated. Most of the numbers were well known, such as One World and Oh, Happy Day.

In addition to Meade's excellent directing, the solos of the soprano Annette Bowen were among the extraordinary events of the evening.
