Culture Ministry political state secretary Lajos Vass, Foreign Ministry deputy state secretary Ferenc Gémesi, and Bishop József Csomós signed an agreement on February 15 allowing for the books to be shown at the museum from March. The books will remain on display until the middle of June.

A year ago Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány signed an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on returning the books to Hungary. In January 2006, the Russian parliament approved a bill providing for their return, and President Putin signed the bill into law on February 2. President Putin is expected to bring the books to Hungary on an official visit scheduled for the end of February. The books will be returned to the Reformed Church.

After the books were seized during the war, they were deposited at the Nizhny Novgorod County Library.
