"It is a strange feeling to perform here because my grandmother was Hungarian and my daughter was conceived in Budapest. I am glad to be among friends," Hucknall said.

Hucknall confirmed that Simply Red would break up at the end of 2010, after more than two decades together. On the current tour, the band is playing audience favourites such as Something Got Me Started, Stars, Thrill Me, Say You Love Me and Sunrise, but on next year's tour, it will play band members' favourites, he said.

Hucknall is already making plans for after Simply Red disbands. There will be a change of style, he said, adding that he is listening to much classical music.

Asked to name his biggest influences, Hucknall said the music of the late 70s, Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Jamaican reggae and the Philadelphia sound.
