Actress Eniko Eszenyi, film director and media artist Peter Forgacs, pianist Bela Lakatos Szakcsi, film director Bela Tarr, curator at the New York Museum of Modern Art Juliet Kinchin and conductor Ken-Ichiro Kobayasi were granted the title on the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Culture which is celebrated on January 22.
All recipients except for Kobayashi personally collected the title at a ceremonial event held at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Istvan Hiller told the meeting that the recipients of the Ambassador of Hungarian Culture title become members of a "club" that enlists outstanding personalities in Hungarian and international culture.
The title set up in 2007 is granted to persons who promote and represent Hungarian culture and Hungary abroad.
