Soprano Irmgard Vilsmaier to Make Hungarian Debut

Vilsmaier will perform together with András Molnár, László Polgár, Béla Perencz and Sándor Egri, in a production directed by András Mikó and conducted by János Kovács.

 
Vilsmaier, who studied at the Bavarian State Opera studio between 1994 and 1996, is best known for her renderings of works by Wagner and Richard Strauss. She is well known for her roles as Waltraute and Gerhilde in The Valkyrie, as Gutrune in Twilight of the Gods and Venus in Tannhauser. Her upcoming roles include Marianne in The Night of the Rose, the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos and Goneril in Lear by Aribert Reimann in Berlin. Vilsmaier will also debut as Chrysothemis in Elektra at the Seattle Opera.
