While the programme in the capital will consist mainly of concerts, Sopron will be host to teachers, students and other interested visitors who have come for the early music seminars on offer. The two festivals have been held separately ? the one in May, the other in June ? for decades, but it seemed logical to pair the events up. The two festivals will share more or less the same artists, but still offer two different programmes.
At the 22nd Sopron Early Music Days, Capella Savaria, the Orfeo Orchestra and the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet will perform, but with different programmes as in Budapest. Barthold Kuijken will be the partner of Sopron?s Tomasini String Ensemble; Alexei Ljubimov will play a solo concert as well as perform with an orchestra; Anneke Boeke will be a soloist with the Capella Savaria, and Rita Széll will oragnise a ball with Katalin Halmai and her dancers in honour of Mozart. Sopron will also host the excellent baroque group Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca, as well as Schola Hungarica.
