The twelve-day celebration of the famous Hungarian composer will feature concerts by István Lajkó, an award winner at the 2006 Liszt-Bartók International Piano Competition, Csaba Király, and many others.
Also on the programme will be a "piano picnic" in the Austrian town of Raiding (formerly the Hungarian village of Doborján), Liszt?s birthplace. Students from Japan, France and the US participating in master classes connected to the festival will perform during the day on July 29, and a performance by Zoltán Fejérvári, who recently won a scholarship to Madrid's Queen Sophia Music Academy, will take place in the evening.
This year?s festival will also pay tribute to the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, who died 100 years ago, with an exhibition entitled Liszt and Grieg. (Both musicians studied together in Weimar.) A concert of works by Grieg performed by Norwegian pianist Geir Botnen will also take place.
The final event on the festival programme will take place at the Pannónia Med Hotel on July 31.
