SPI's first release in Hungary was Traffic, which opened in May 2002. The film generated 126,000 box office receipts. Other films SPI has distributed in Hungary include Lost in Translation, 21 Grams, Pulp Fiction, Match Point, Brokeback Mountain and Perfume. Films distributed by SPI have attracted some 5 million moviegoers. The most popular ones have been Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, T4xi and Sin City.

SPI distributes an equal number of art films as big US blockbusters. Among the Hungarian films it has distributed are Argo and Állítsátok meg Terézanyut (Stop Mom Theresa).

In the future, SPI plans to continue to select "higher value" films as well as blockbuster hits such as the Hannibal or the Asterix brands for distribution, SPI managing director Kathrin Pintér said.

Currently SPI is working on bringing Miss Potter to Hungary. The film stars Renée Zellweger as the famous children's writer Beatrix Potter and features Ewan McGregor in the role of her publisher. The movie will be in cinemas in the summer, said Pintér.

Because I Said So, a comedy with Diane Keaton in the lead, will be another summer launch.

In the autumn, SPI will bring Next to Hungary. The sci-fi flick stars Nicolas Cage, Jessica Biel and Julianne Moore. It will also show the Hungarian film Evening, the latest film by Lajos Koltai, who directed Fateless.
