Holender, who is currently employed as a consultant to the Budapest Opera, told Austrian radio ORF, however, that he had received signals that Budapest would welcome "closer cooperation", but added that the plans were "not ripe".
"I will certainly not be a resident, executive director in Budapest," Holender told the radio.
Austrian tabloid Oesterreich said last Friday that Holender could be the next Hungarian Opera head, after the incumbent director Lajos Vass' mandate expired in 2012.
