Sisley played down similarities between the character of Largo Winch, which he plays, to James Bond, but said he himself had much in common with the character, who is based on one in a Belgian graphic novel.

"Though some call Largo the French James Bond, I don't think there are many similarities between the two figures; Largo doesn't save the world, he saves lives, though he doesn't shun the company of beautiful women either," Sisley said.

"The figure of Largo is like me in several ways: he has ties to many cultures, he was forced to move and change his way of life when he was a child, and, of course, he loves adventure," Sisley, who was born in Berlin to Israeli parents before moving to France, added.

Sisley said he had to make difficult preparations before the film was shot, training for five months and struggling to learn Serbian. He added that his co-star, the well known actress Kristin Scott Thomas, was a big help to him.

A sequel to Largo Winch is already in the planning stages, Sisley said.

Sisley revealed he is working on a screenplay of his own, but said it didn't look like it would be a comedy.
