Wikström will play the role of Count Albert. Opposite Wikström will be the Hungarian National Ballet's Kossuth Award winner Alesya Popova.
Wikström studied at the ballet school of the Royal Swedish Opera and joined the opera itself in 1987. He was made a soloist in 1991 and a first dancer in 1993. In December 2000, he was awarded the title "Court Dancer" from Carl Gustav XVI. Between 2001 and 2004, Wikström was a guest dancer at the English National Ballet.
In Stockholm, Wikström has danced the lead male roles in Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet (Kenneth MacMillan/Rudolf Nureyev), Mayerling (Kenneth MacMillan), The Sylph (August Bournonville), and Natalia Makarova's Giselle and La Bayadére. In London, he has danced in The Nutcracker, Double Concerto (Hampson) and Romeo and Juliet.
The multi-talented Wikstöm has appeared in numerous modern works as well as Classical and Romantic works, among them ones by Birgit Cullberg, Alvin Ailey, George Balanchine, Nils Christe, Ulysses Dove, William Forsythe, Kenneth Kvarnström, Jiri Kylian and Paul Taylor.
He has appeared as guest performer in New Zealand, Hungary, Japan and the United States.
