A new production of My Fair Lady, directed by Eszter Novák, will open on the square in front of Szeged's cathedral on July 2. Kátya Tompos will play the role of Elisa Doolittle and László Széles has been cast as Professor Higgins.
A dance production choreographed by Zoltán Zsuráfszky and called Dózsa, after the leader of the peasant uprising of 1514, will open on July 16. Péter Novák will dance in the title role and some 300 dancers from four companies will be part of the production.
Szeged will host a new production of Carmen with Atala Schöck and Arnold Rutkowski on July 30 and 31.
A production of the musical Hair directed by Bertalan Bagó is also coming to the Szeged Open-Air Festival for the first time.
An opera and operetta gala evening with members of the Budapest Operetta Theatre will take place on July 24. The event is part of the Pécs2010 European Capital of Culture programme.
