The THEALTER festival will show performances of independent and experimental artists from Russia, Croatia, Poland, Bulgaria, and France, said József Balog of MASZK, the event?s organiser. The festival?s organisers have also made an effort to include more participants from the Balkans and Eastern Europe since 2003. He added that the SZASZSZ festival would feature twelve of the best alternative theatre productions from Hungary, selected by László Hudi, the head of arts organisation Mozgó Ház Társulás.
In addition to theatre performances, Szeged residents and visitors will be treated to special concerts by Sziámi, Kontroll Csoport, Csókolom, Bori Rutkai and Specko Jedno, Félix Lajkó, and Erika Marozsán, who will introduce her new solo album. Other events taking place during the week will include experimental puppet shows, photo exhibitions, movement and photo workshops, and an international critics? workshop.
As in previous years, the organisers will publish a free festival programme, called Ex-stasis. And, just as last year, the festival will have its own slot - THEALTER Rádió - on Rádió Mi 89.9, Szeged?s first civil community radio broadcaster. The show can also be heard on the internet.
