Szeged Open-air Festival Starts 80th Season

The performance, adapted by Attila Vidnyánszky earlier this year, was watched by President of the Republic Pál Schmitt and National Resources Minister Miklós Réthelyi.
 
Szeged Mayor László Botka gave a special welcome to Mrs Géza Szeles, who watched the opening performance of the first Szeged Open air Festival on June 13, 1931.
 
The Tragedy of Man was first performed at the festival in 1933, directed by Ferenc Hont. It has since been on the programme 17 times. Friday?s performance will be the 62nd.
 
This year?s performance was the first at which sign language interpretation was offered.
