Pécs?s coordinator for the 2010 programme András Mészáros said the two cities are considering a number of joint events. A week earlier the director of the Szeged Open-Air Festival visited Pécs to determine what kinds of programmes would draw foreign and Hungarian visitors to both cities, he said. An existing cooperation between the library of the Pécs University of Sciences and Szeged?s Somogyi Library could also be built upon.
The libraries in Szeged and Pécs have been cooperating since 2005, said the Somogyi Library?s coordinator for the partnership Erzsébet Szőkefalvi-Nagy. To mark the Year of Environmental and Physical Health, the libraries put together an exhibition of valuable works from their collections that reflect the development of medical studies in Europe, and especially Hungary. The exhibition opened in Szeged on Tuesday and will be shown in Pécs in the autumn.
