On the closing day alone 68,000 people attended Sziget programmes, said Viktoria Veto. Overall, the festival is expected to make a profit this year, but the anti-racism campaign concerts on Day 0 were not profitable, Veto added.
The organisers started dismantling Sziget structures late on Sunday, after the last show. It usually takes about two weeks to clean up the Obuda Island park and then gardeners can begin to fully return the park to its normal state, she added.
On Sunday, the main festival organiser Karoly Gerendai said the cost of the event came to 2.65 billion forints (EUR 9.7 m) and there was a good chance profits could exceed last year's 100 million forints. He added that the global economic crisis had prompted regular festival-goers to skip smaller festivals but stick to bigger events.
