The mix of opera and rock music has become a popular part of Miskolc's annual opera festival. In 2007, the city hosted the Swedish metal band Therion, and the Dutch band Epica performed in 2008.
Turunen performed at Budapest's Petőfi Hall in 2009.
Turunen joined the metal band Nightwish in 1996, after graduating from the Sibelius Academy. Nine years and seven albums later, she split with the band and started building a solo career. She will follow up her first album My Winter Storm, released in 2008, with What Lies Beneath, later in 2010.
