Tel Aviv at Centre of Pixrael Exhibition

The contest organisers said their goal was to "illustrate how the metropolitan city of Tel Aviv transformed out of the sand dunes of Jaffa in the last 100 years. The categories of the exhibition were chosen to show the young metropolis' dynamism with its values, problems and paradoxes."

The exhibition shows fifty photographs selected from about a thousand submissions by a professional jury headed by Iván Benda. The images will be on display in Erzsébet Square until August 19. Afterward, they can be seen at the Octopus Arts Area of the Sziget Festival between August 12 and 17.

The exhibition will open with performances by Israeli and Hungarian artists, among them Myzrab, offering Middle East ambient; and Hagesher, which will bring a mix of klezmer, reggae and hip-hop; as well as Dub L.F.O. and DJ Suefo.
