Theatre Heads Meet in Hungary to Establish Union

The declaration of intent was signed on Saturday in the Hungarian city of Szeged by the head of the National Operetta Theatre in Bucharest Răzvan Ioan Dincă, Egon Kulhanek of Prague's Karlin Music Theatre, Yuriy Shwarzkopf of the Musical Comedy Theatre in Saint Petersburg, and Budapest Operetta Theatre director Gábor Miklós Kerényi.

The goal of establishing the union is to create more joint productions, promote exchanges of artists and productions, organize workshops and festivals, make joint applications for European Union funding, and create a professional forum.

 
The union will hold its first official meeting in the autumn of 2008.
