Esther's Inheritance

The film Esther's Inheritance, directed by Jozsef Sipos, received the audience's award in Salerno, which was handed over to the director at a ceremony on the weekend. It is based on renowned Hungarian 20th-century writer Sandor Marai's novel about a woman waiting in Hungary for over twenty years to hear from her one-time love, who all of a sudden sends a telegram. Marai lived in Salerno from 1968 until 1980.

At the 32nd Cairo Film Festival, the most prominent film festival in the Arab-speaking world, Tamas Almasi's recent title Mario the Magician  about an Italian businessman changing the lives of ordinary Hungarians will be competing for the Golden Pyramid main prize. The other film to be shown at the festival beginning on Tuesday is the debut feature Panic by Attila Till, which is set in a "panic clinic".
