Tó Hotel to Entertain Guests With 3rd Louis Armstrong Jazz Festival

English

The festival?s organisers aim to expose the great jazz sounds of the 30s and 40s to a broader audience as well as offering an entertainment getaway for all jazz lovers.

In addition to Hungarian bands the Bolyki Brothers and the Hot Jazz Band, foreign artists will also be on the festival?s programme, including Shaffer's Riffers from the Czech Republic and the Trevor Richards British New Orleans All Stars from England. On the festival?s Off programme will be a forum featuring Joe Murányi, Louis Armstrong?s last, Hungarian-born clarinetist. The festival?s performers will also assess the popularity and current state of swing, Dixieland and ragtime, as well as the future of these music forms. During the forum, a video recording of Armstrong?s concert in Vietnam, in 1969, will be shown.

A photo exhibition will also open during the festival, entitled ?Louis Armstrong: Life and Career?, with images from the private collection of trumpeter Irakli Dzhugashvili. The photographs follow Armstrong from his beginnings all the way to the end of the 60s. The exhibition will be accompanied by a special collection of stamps which feature the great jazz artist.

The Tó Hotel and Restaurant is located at Petőfi út 73, in the village of Bánk, near the town of Rétság, north of Budapest.
