Transylvanian City Seeks to Become Culture Capital

The proposal to establish the committee, consisting of council members and experts, was made by mayor Sorin Apostu, Romania?s Hungarian language daily Új Magyar Szó reported.

 
Already, the local council has sent letters to more than 60 officials at theatres, orchestras and other cultural institutions inviting them to participate.
 
The Romanian city of Sibiu was a 2007 European Capital of Culture.
