Bokova also voiced her support for the 5th World Science Forum that the academy will organise in November 2011. The event is supported by the Hungarian state, UNESCO, and the International Council for Science.

Pálinkás said that additional countries will be invited in 2011 on the recommendation of Bokova. As a result, the World Science Forum in Budapest is expected to become UNESCO's most important scientific forum, he added.

While in Paris, Pálinkás addressed the opening event of a four-day conference on bio-diversity at the UNESCO headquarters. He said that human responsibility in shaping the environment had grown and cited the example of Hungary's National Council for Sustainable Development, established by Parliament.
