 Steve Reich

Amadinda will present the piece entitled Mallet Quartet Steve Reich composed to celebrate the group's 25th birthday, said Zoltan Racz. He said he was honoured that the piece's would be premiered in Budapest with Reich attending.

The second piece is Daniel Variations composed for 16 instruments and 12 vocals and is a tribute to American correspondent of the Wall Street Journal, Daniel Pearl, who was kidnapped and executed by terrorist in Pakistan in 2002. It was Pearl's father who asked Reich to compose a piece in the memory of his son, said Racz.

The third piece Amadinda will play is the emblematic Music for 18 Musicians Reich completed during 1974 and 1976.

"The piece is a miracle itself, the way the whole piece is alive breathing can only be compared to the greatest miracles of nature. A masterpiece with incomparable depths," Racz said.

Reich will arrive in Budapest to prepare for the concert with Amadinda on December 3.
