Walkway Completed Over Convent Ruins

English

The walkway, from which one has a view over the entire ruins, is the latest step in an ongoing reconstruction project that started in 1994. Between 1996 and 2000, the project involved the participation of archaeologists from the Budapest History Museum who excavated the former home of Saint Margaret of the House of Árpád. In 2000, reconstruction of the convent's main sanctuary was completed. Afterward, another section of the structure - perhaps the royal quarters - was excavated and a metal walkway overlooking the area was built.

Work will continue on building a new path to the convent as well as the reconstruction of the smaller sanctuary in 2009 and 2010, Kiss said.
