The Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic, Officer's Cross was presented to Powell by Hungarian Ambassador Bela Szombati at a ceremony on Wednesday evening.
The award has been given in recognition of Powell's achievements in organising a number of bilateral projects and for his outstanding work in presenting Hungarian culture and art in the United States.
