Bakó, a member of the Artus company, will receive the main award; Kerényi, who dances with the Hungarian National Ballet and the Hungarian State Opera, will be presented with the junior award at a performance on Friday of ?Hamlet? by the Győr Ballet at Budapest?s Palace of Arts.
Bakó was born in 1974 and trained at Budapest?s School of Dance. He has participated in a number of renowned Hungarian and international festivals, winning the top award at the Stuttgart International Solo Dance Festival in 2003. Bakó has taught at Budapest?s Dance Arts Secondary School since 2001. He also regularly teaches courses and workshops in Hungary and abroad.
Kerényi, born in 1980, trained at the Hungarian Dance Academy.
The Hungarian Dance Award is presented each year to two dancers to recognise their contribution to Hungarian dance and their work as ambassadors on stages around the world.
The award?s jury is headed by György Szakály and includes the ballet dancers János Kiss and András Pataki, the director Balázs Kovalik, the actress Judit Schell and the journalist Katalin Szemere.
