The conference seeks to promote an exchange of ideas and experience as well as the sharing urban development techniques, Budapest Mayor Gabor Demszky said in his opening address.
UNESCO-registered cities in the region need to increase co-operation and act jointly to obtain European Union funding for developments, said the mayor.
This year's is the seventh such conference.
