The event, organised by the local council and the Jassic Association, is expected to draw 5,000-6,000 people from Jazzygia and other places around the world, said Mayor Mrs Tibor Zelenai.
The programme of the meeting includes elements intended to increase self-knowledge of the Jassic people, a parade, the inauguration of a Jassic captain and a showcase of crafts from the Jazzygia.
The meeting will start with a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment the community?s primary school and the opening of an exhibition of paintings and crafts. The musical ensemble Csík Zenekár will perform in the evening.
The Jassic ? ?Jász? in Hungarian ? were a nomadic Sarmatian (Iranian) tribe which settled in the medieval Kingdom of Hungary during the 13th century. Many of their descendants still live in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County.
