Rakovszky won the second-place prize for her book The Serpent's Shadow (A kígyó árnyéka), published in Italian by Baldini Castoldi.
The main prize went to Slovenian writer Ciril Kosmac for Tracing a Vagabond. Another Slovenian author, Boris Pahor, finished in third place with his novel Necropolis.
The Centroeuropea Prize was presented for third time by the Milan-based publishing house Anfora. Last year, the Hungarian author Magda Szabó received the main prize for her novel Pilatus (Pilátus).
Anfora introduced a new publication of a Hungarian work at the ceremony on Monday: The Silver Cat (Az ezüstmacska), by Miklós György Száraz.
