A performance of Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy in Sfântu Gheorghe, Romania

At its start, the series featured single performances from only a few theatres. Later, regions, or even individual theatres, were highlighted, and sometimes entire repertoires were shown at the festival.

"The (ethnic Hungarian) theatre beyond the borders represent variety above everything else," said Darvay Nagy. "Hungarian speakers are just like English, French or German speakers: their theatre works are intercultural."

The Guests in Budapest series will celebrate its tenth anniversary in the European Union's Year of Intercultural Dialogue, Darvay Nagy added.
