A tight budget has forced festival organisers to cut back, but this has not affected the quality of the events, says Hauser, who will open the celebration of the piano with a concert of works by Bach, Chopin, Schubert and Rachmaninov. On Friday, the renowned young pianist Gábor Farkas will play Schubert and Liszt. Before the concert, the rising young talent Benjamin Perényi will play Schubert's Sonata B flat major. On Saturday evening, Péter Nagy will perform Schubert's Fantasia opus 17 and his Sonata in C minor. As usual, Zoltán Kocsis will close the festival, joined this year by Barnabás Kelemen, to perform Bartók's Rhapsody for Violin and Piano and Sonata for Violin and Piano, as well as Debussy's Sonata for Violin and Piano.
All of the concerts at this year's festival, which starts on Thursday, will take place in Tiszadob's reformed church as the Andrássy Castle is undergoing a renovation. The castle park, however, remains open to visitors.
The castle renovation, to take two years, includes the construction of an open-air stage which will be become the main venue for the festival.
