The performance drew a celebrity crowd. Among the ticket holders was the actor Gyula Bodrogi, the news reporter István Pálffy and front man of the Hungarian band Apostol József Meződi - who said he was seeing the production for the first time.
Two women brought red roses that would - with many, many others - carpet the stage at the end of the performance. One said she was seeing the production for the second time in a week.
After each of the numbers in the performance, the level of applause and of shouts made the venue feel more like a rock concert in a stadium. After the performance, the audience gave the cast and crew an ovation. They were rewarded with at least five curtain calls.
