Yava Folcore Punk Brigade was formed by Polett Dus and Ádám Mestyán in 2001. Dus brought with her years of experience living in Indonesia, where she learned the arts of "wayang" and the "gamelan". Mestyán, who studied Arabic at university, contributed his experience living in North Africa and Kuwait. The band was joined by the minstrel and lyre player Szabolcs Róka in 2002 and by the all-round musician Fritz László Németh in 2004. Progressive metal-drummer Kristóf Szabó is the band's newest member.

Yava Folcore Punk Brigade aims to disprove the adage that "Hungarians rejoice by crying", the band says on their website. "In the music of Yava Folcore Punk Brigade the folk songs are not artefacts of museums or world music-like commercial products but pulsating energy which is not only intertwined with the musical traditions of the Middle East or Indonesia but also with hardcore punk music."

Yava Folcore Punk Brigade will be joined at the A38 by Attila Grandpierre of VHK and VCSSZ, János Jócsik of Korai  Öröm, and Attila Mátyás of Sex Action, MAB and F.O. System. The MTA SZTAKI Media Technology Team will put on a projection show.
