Dénes Szabó, the Kossuth Prize-winning conductor who heads festival organiser Cantemus Choral Institute, said participants would come from China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Israel, Wales, Turkey, the Netherlands, Portugal, Estonia and Hungary. As in past year, a number of concerts will take place in the city and surrounding towns during the event, he added.
 
All of the choirs will perform in the city?s main square at a folklore night on August 18 and a qualifying round will take place on the following day.
