Eger to Host Quartet Theatre Festival

English

The festival, fittingly called Quartet, will involve the Géza Gárdonyi Theatre, the Theatre du Rictus of Nantes, the Serbian National Theatre from Novi Sad and the Western Bohemian Theatre from Cheb in the Czech Republic. Starting September 28, each of the theatres will bring a different theatre production to each participating location for one week.

 Uncle Pityu's Son

The Eger theatre will stage Uncle Pityu's Son by János Háy, the Cheb theatre Vaclav Havel's play The Conspirators, the Nantes troupe The Asphalt Jungle by Sylvain Levey and the Novi Sad theatre The Doll Ship by Milena Markovic.

Eger will be the third city to host the programme, after Novi Sad and Cheb. Nantes will host the event only in the spring of 2010.

The European Union provided a EUR 200,000 grant for the festival, covering about 40 percent of the total costs.
