The seven-member delegation headed by deputy minister Li Hongfeng and Simon reviewed bilateral ties and expressed appreciation of their dynamic development, especially the positive trends that started since last year?s meeting of the two countries? prime ministers. They stressed that a precondition for successful Hungarian-Chinese cooperation was the deepening of cultural links and the opening of cultural institutes as soon as possible would form an important element in this process.
 
They stated that thanks to the strengthening of Hungarian-Chinese relations, an increasing number of important cultural events have taken place in each others? countries, such as a recent guest performance by the Opera House of Beijing in Budapest. In August, a large-scale Chinese contemporary art exhibition will be opened at the Museum of Fine Art in Budapest and Shanghai will host the exhibition Munkácsy and his Age at the end of this year. The sides also highlighted the importance of cooperation between twin cities.
