The live streams of the Pop-Rock Main Stage, the World Music Party Stage and the A38 stage will start in the afternoon on August 8, the first official day of the festival, said Sziget managing director Tamás Kádár. The shows will be repeated for the benefit of those in other time zones, he added.

The streams are being shown with the support of a staff of more than 60 and 24 cameras.

Richárd M. Nagy, who heads the YouTube streaming project, the first from Hungary, said 16 concerts would be filmed on the Pop-Rock Main stage and four apiece on the World Music Party Stage and the A38 Stage. He added that permission was still arriving from acts on the stages and the final programme would be available on YouTube.

More and more concerts and festival are on YouTube, thus it was only natural that Sziget, the winner of ?The Best Major European Festival? award last year, should also become part of the content, said Pál Bíró, Google Magyarország?s man in charge of YouTube. Under the agreement between Sziget and Google, YouTube is providing the communications platform and Sziget the signal, he added.

Bíró said the streaming project was a milestone but only the first ?step?, when asked whether festival acts could be seen on YouTube next year too.

Attila Sándor, the bassist for Compact Disco, which represented Hungary at this year?s Eurovision Song Contest, said the streaming project was a great opportunity for local acts because it would give them exposure to as many as one million people.
