Tata Renovates Stage in Historic Park

"We are past the first round and the contract now needs to be signed," said the city's chief architect Zsolt Kiss.

As part of the project, the number of seats in the open-air theatre will be reduced from 2,400 to 1,800, including 400 fixed seats and 1,400 temporary ones. But even the fixed seats can be removed in the winter, Kiss said.

The renovation will be carried out when the theatre is not operating, and all of the work will have to be completed by December 2010.

Tata's English Park was the first park in Hungary to be listed, affording it the same status as other listed monuments.
