Palojtay, who played Schumann?s Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 54, shared the prize with the Georgian Tamar Beraia.
 
Second prize went to the Korean pianist Ah Ruem Ahn.
 
The jury decided not to award a first prize.
 
The awards ceremony took place in the Sala Argenta at the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria.
 
The ceremony was presided over by Her Royal Highness the Infanta Do?a Margarita. The President of the Government of Cantabria, Ignacio Diego; the Secretary of State for Culture, José María Lasalle; the Lord Mayor of Santander, Í?igo de la Serna, and the President of the Santander International Piano Competition and the Albéniz Foundation, Paloma O?Shea, were also present.
 
The contest jury was chaired by Antoni Ros Marba and comprised Márta Gulyás, Ferenc Rados, Peter Alward, Luis Pereira Leal, Lorenzo Fasolo, Ralf Gothóni, Gary Graffman, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Oleg Maisenberg, Tomás Marco and Gérard Wyss.
 
Palojtay graduated from the Liszt Academy of Music in the spring of 2011. There he studied under Gábor CsalogMárta GulyásAndrás Kemenes and Imre Rohmann. He is continuing his studies in Stuttgart.
