Based on the novel of the same name by Nobel Prize-winner J.M. Coetze, Disgrace tells the story of a man who starts an affair with a young female student of his, then starts out on an unusual life path and ?reduces to nil? his previous existence, Mundruczó said earlier.

René Solis, writing for Libération, called the play a ?daring adaptation?. He said Mundruczó has the same sense of image as a theatre director as he does as a film director, calling the staging ?extraordinarily well thought out?.

Solis acknowledged the work of the actors in the piece too, especially the performance by Lili Monori, who owns an animal shelter in Disgrace.

Brigitte Salino said in Le Monde that Mundruczó ?does not hesitate to pack a punch, but puts such thoughts in viewers? heads that change everything?.

Mundruczó and the Proton Theatre company are performing the play, with Sándor Zsótér in the lead, six times at the festival.
