Hungarian Sculptor Reinterprets Marx

English

Art academy students from Linz created the "Temporary Museum of Modern Marx" this summer by encasing the bust in Chemnitz - called Karl-Marx Stadt under communism - in a white box. A scaffold allowed visitors to look the statue in the eye.

On the evening of September 4, Pauer will illuminate the bust and create projections onto the surfaces of the box that surrounds it to show his own rendering of Marxism-Leninism. The action is being organised together with the Neue Sachsische Galerie.

Berlin's Collegium Hungaricum will show an exhibition of Pauer's work entitled Pseudo in Berlin between September 27 and November 4.
